One very famous line every child hears from older people is,"What do you want to become when you grow up?" Usually the answers would be are: (...survey says...)"I want to be a doctor"; "I want to be an engineer"; "I want to be a teacher". Very seldom (or very very rare..as in) you can hear a child say, "I want to be a performer!" >.< kasi, the life and vision of the children is based on what the adults wanted them to become. Adults put their vision to their children so as these young ones think that those are also their vision in life. And so, slowly we are blindfolding our children on their real vision.
Having a vison for yourself is very important. It will form your guide map to what you wanted to become. But one question I want to pose is, 'what kind of vision do you hold for your future?'
...are you the NEAR-SIGHTED visionary?
Are you the type of the person who only see the short path of achieving dreams? And what do I really mean by that? Simple, a no-sweat-reach-your-goal path!
I consider a near-sighted visionary those who:
- join reality star search contests like moonstruck, sun is circle quest, etc. to become famous even though even a hint doesn't have any talent to become.
- join reality star searches and looks to it that that is the only life on earth. If you dont become a winner on the contest, you are doomed to die.
- marrying a someone for their money (and even sex) just to satisfy their personal desire.
- marrying foreigners of great wealth just to escape the troubles in their own land.
- fall in line on a lottery store. Praying for an instant jackpot prize.
- Social-climbing. So as to be noticed by other people and then beguile them.
- Follow the career path of their parents so as they will not have difficulty.
- Dropping out of school thinking that it is much best to work than study at school.
- Taking up the easiest major degree or course just to say that you have finished a university degree.
...are you the FAR-SIGHTED visionary?
Or, are you the type of person that looks farther beyond the horizon?
I consider a far-sighted visionary those who:
- doesn't stop learning. Maybe not only in school but in life. Open their channels to wise advise of people, both older and younger than he is.
- see themselves as asset of their country or an entity. Eager to help his own roots.
- those who shine their light to bring hope for others.
- think to always make a difference in all he does.,
- those who listen to the counsel of both people--the good and the bad. Walking in the counsel of good and learning to find an antidote or counterstep and attack the counsel of the wicked.
- think NOT only about themselves but the majority.
- plan their lives. Have plans in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years in life. Though not fixed, they know clearly where they are headed to!
- are not feared by the challenges in life. He walks out of his shell and face the troubles like a victor.
- try to leave the crowd because everyone else is doing the same thing and tries to do something extraordinary things for the benefit of many.
- uses his God-given gifts (talents and gifts of the Holy Spirit) in trudging his mapped plan in life.
- rely onto GOD as his source of strength, wisdom, and talents.
- never patterns similar paths from their human examples but, rather excited to face his own destination.
So, what kind of vision do you hold for your future? Let us remember that it is us who can create our own vision in life. It's not passed on to us by our old people and even our parents. What vison do we hold now will say what life we'll be having in the future.
